How Did She Talk Me Into This!!!...

***This was written friday night I had every intention of putting it up saturday but life happened as usual so here it is almost a week later!!***I do not black friday/thursday shop but yesterday as we were coming out of our thanksgiving haze my mom asked me if I wanted to go with her to the K-mart sale that stared at 8.. Now in my defense I thought she wouldn't go she tells me she wants to then changes her mind but at 7 last night she called and was ready to go.. So we got ready and headed out we live in a small town so I thought that it would not be bad at all, till we got there.. They had closed which we didn't know so there was a line outside and it was a little chilly but we stood in line for a few minutes then the line started moving up and people were right at the door that is when I told my mom "look if they start pushing we are moving out of the way if they want it that bad let them have it".. The doors opened and people started running, but the people behind us must have felt like we did, cause we were safe from any stampede.. After we got in the doors people were running every where at first we were lost then my mom got her list out and we went to the first thing the tv's of course by the time we got to them they were all gone but everything else on my mom's list we found.. We had been in the store for about an hour it wasn't too bad people had stopped acting like they were running from a fire and the isle were pretty open so we decided to check out.. We get up front to the registers and BAM we knew why it was quite in the isle everyone was waiting to check out yes we were in the middle of an explosion people were every where you had no idea what lane was where.. My mom looked at me and said "let's just leave everything and go home" to which I replied "we just spent 1 hour in here looking for this stuff not to mention we came out of our warm houses stood in the cold and waited in line, oh you are getting this stuff" so we picked a place to stand and waited for it to form a line to a register by the time it was all said and done we spent more time in line to check out then we did to get in and look for everything.. The moral to my story is this from now on we will just pay the extra few dollars cause what we went through last night was not worth the money saved people are crazy to go black friday shopping and if you love it that is great, it's just not our cup of tea.. How did she talk me into that any ways?

Red/blue/khaki button up shirt (consignment sale 3.00), gymboree airplane sweater vest (consignment sale 3.00), crazy 8 khaki pants (clearance 6.99) and arizona brown loafer shoes (yard sale new 4.00) cost of whole outfit was 16.99 now for a holiday outfit that is cute and thrifty!!!

11/19/12-Goodwill and thrift shop trip-gymboree dress pants 1.50, faded glory bachelor shirt 1.00, ralph lauren sweater vest 1.50, mickey mouse target new shirt 2.00, red/black plaid tie .25, thomas pillow new target 6.00 (paid more than I would have for this but it was new and my son loved it in store they are $12-$15) and 2 books .10 a piece..

There's Just One Problem....

Even though my son is 3 1/2 years old he is still a very messy eater so after his bowl of cereal today I had to wash him down with a wash cloth.. As I was getting his tooth brush ready for him he said "my hands are clean, my belly is clean and so are my legs" "but there is one problem momma" I said "what is the problem bud" he said "I COLD".. Had to laugh he is so funny and talks my head off now about everything I need to keep a notebook with me at all times so I can write down all the funny things he says.. Wanted to share this story especially today because tomorrow is Thanksgiving and my son is what I am most thankful for he always knows how to make my day!! Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!!!

Hi Santa!!!

My son had his pic taken with Santa when he was 6 months old so it really didn't bother him when he was little but the next 2 years (18 months+2 1/2 years) he was terrified of him... I know to some people you are going to think it is way too early but we took a trip to the mall which hardly ever happens and Santa was there!!! I thought well lets try this cause there was maybe a 5 min. wait figured he would do the same thing as last few years, stand in line and tell me about santa then when we got up to him start crying "no momma no I scared" but he did the opposite.. Soon as he got up to him he said "hi Santa" and started waving then he got on his lap and took a pic with him so of course my mom had to buy some.. Was so proud and excited I almost cried.. So now I can rest easier knowing my son loves Santa and Christmas just got a lot more enjoyable!!

11/10/12-Church sale wooden calendar (thought this would help my son learn his days and months) .50, water color paint .25, set of cream wooden candle holders very prim 1.00 for set and white milk glass candy dish .50..

11/10/12-Church sale milk glass vase .50, battery operated pillar candle .50, wooden soap dish and tooth bruch holder never used .50 for pair and vintage blocks spell joy for christmas (got these at craft show but wanted to share) 1.00.. Also got my son a tonka truck plate for .25 and a handmade black and white scarf 2.00 (those are not pictured forgot them)..

11/12/12-Goodwill trip grey dress pants for my son (he needed a pair for christmas) 2.00, old navy jean shorts (for next summer) 2.00, paul frank shoes (in good condition) 2.00, wooden blocks spell HOME 1.55 and a handmade wooden monkey puzzle .55 (deal of the day)..

11/12/12-Goodwill trip 5 puzzles (4 were never used) 2.00, curious george book (excellent condition) .55, touch and feel bible story book .55 and you can see the handmade monkey puzzle better that was .55..

11/14/12-Walmart clearance wrangler shorts grey/black, denim cargo, blue/black, green with design (3.00 a pair) and OP guitar swim trunks (2.00.. Might want to check out the clearance section they have some good deals!!

Haven't bought a lot of things off of ebay for a while but went a little crazy this week so here is what I got.. Navy blue john deere layered shirt (4.95), john deere thermal shirt and blue carhartt layered shirt (18.20) and a thomas christmas shirt with the tabogan set new with tags (12.58).. Did not want to do a seperate post for these plus they were good deals for ebay!!

Cranberry-Mandarin Orange Chicken Salad....

I have perfected a chicken salad that I love so thought maybe it should be shared.. I am not sure on exact measurements but will give you an idea and you can go from there add more or less of each item for your own taste.. Ingredients -1 can of chicken -1/2 cup of dried cranberries -1/2 cup of mandarin oranges (I use the ones in the can) -1/4 cup of mayo -salt -pepper -box of favorite crackers or bread Instructions Open can of chicken take a fork and break the chunks up, open can of mandarin oranges and cut up about a half cup then add them with the cranberries to chicken(I also use a little drop of the juice from the oranges but that is optional), then add your mayo (I don't like a lot of mayo so add more to your taste) then add a pinch of salt and pepper for seasoning I put a very small drop of vinegar for seasoning then refrigerate for a couple of hours (I usually do mine the night before so it will be chilled by the next day at lunch) put on crackers or bread (if you use bread it is better to toast it) and that is it very simple and I love it!!! Hope you enjoy!!

11/07/12-Wonder kids hoodie grey sweat shirt (consignment sale 3.00), grey carhartt shirt under (ebay 2.00), wrangler carpenter jeans (yard sale .50) and grey converse tennis shoes (yard sale .50) the total for whole outfit 6.00 now that is cute and thrifty!!

11/08/12-Cherokee orange/white/grey plaid shirt (goodwill new 2.00), grey undershirt (yard sale .50), crazy 8 khaki pants (clearance 6.29) and grey converse (yard sale .50) the total for whole outfit is 9.29 now that is cute and thrifty!!!!

11/10/12-old navy flannel shirt (goodwill 2.00), crazy 8 happy camper shirt (clearance 3.99), crazy 8 jeans match pattern on shirt (clearance 6.99) and childrens place boots (not pictured forgot to take a pic so this was taken when we got home so did not have them at the time) (yard sale .50) total for whole outfit 13.48 not that is cute and thrifty!!

A Family Portrait...

I believe my son is going to be a musician, teacher, doctor, lawyer and even president.. All joking aside I think that my son if very talented he may be a musician or even an artist and that would be fine with me what ever he does I will support him.. We were practicing writing letters, his name and some words when we finished he wanted to draw so he spent the next hour drawing all sorts of pictures.. I had to share his family portrait with you cause I think for being 3 years old he is pretty talented.. He told me this was a pic of his momma, daddy and him.. Enjoy!!

Thrifty Thursday 11/01/12-11/07/12....

These are my purchases from goodwill or thrift stores for the week of 11/01/12 to 11/07/12..

Goodwill trip 11/01/12-2 blankets yellow/green (for my chinchilla she loves to snuggle up in them for winter) 1.00 a piece, thomas pj's 2.00 (look almost new), frog pj's 2.00 (look almost new too), 2 pairs of training underwear (these were in a pack but was supposed to have 3) 2.00, mesh laundry bag (new in package) .95, vintage gold candle ring 2.00 and a super bounce ball 1.00(still had tags on it my son always wants these in the store and they are normally 7.00-8.00 that is crazy for a little ball)..

Goodwill trip 11/01/12-Picked up this pop up tent thought my son could play with it inside or out if not only paid 4.00 so I am sure we can get our money out of it...

11/03/12-Went to a few church sales and this is what I picked up!! Some lace and vintage material for .50 a bundle, crystal dish .50, christmas braclet .75, small jars .25 a piece and dinosaur jello cutters (will probably use for cookies) .05..

11/03/12-Also picked these books up for my son at the church sales they were .25 a piece.. I buy him a lot of books at goodwill and yard sales but you can't beat the prices these books in the store can be anywhere from 3.88 to 9.99 just depends on the book..

11/03/12-After the church sales we went to a local thrift store as you know I want to decorate in a vintage theme this year so I have been picking up anything vintage I see.. Here is what I got vintage plastic candle rings .35 a piece, bird plastic candle jar .55, set of alabaster white doves .55 for set, 2 milk glass vases .65 a piece and 2 packs of sequins for my son's crafts .25 a piece..

Is It Really November Already!!!...

I know it is a little late to be writing this blog since today is the 6th but just took a moment and realized that it is in fact November already... Why oh why does this time of the year have to go so fast? I love this time of year September-December are my fav months which is weird considering my son was born in June and I was born in July but I just love fall and all the activities that you can do during that time.. Plus all of my FAV holidays are in those months Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas mostly because those are the only holidays my family and I can get together.. It is the most wonderful time of the year and always the busiest in October we go to the pumpkin patch and of course trick or treating, November we get everything ready for Thanksgiving (which is 16 days away WHAT?) then decorate for Christmas and get Christmas pic taken then in December we have to take a trip to see Santa, make cookies, go look at lights, go to parties and then get everything ready for Christmas (wow December is jam packed with excitement).. Usually Christmas shopping is in there too but most of mine is already done cause I refuse to let that cut into the time spent with my son!! I am determined to have everything done by December 1st so all I have to worry about is making memories with my little man!! Before we can blink it will be January 1st and we will be starting everything over again so here is to making memories and enjoying the holidays with your FAM!!!

I Paid $1.24 for Air?....

I bought a big bag of UTZ potato chips on a recent grocery store trip and when it was opened there was not even a half bag of chips come on there is probably the same amount of chips in this bag as there are in the little snack bags.. I paid 2.48 for the bag of chips so technically I paid $1.24 (or more) for air and all this time thought that was supposed to be free.. Well played UTZ chip company well played..

Cute And Thrifty 10/29/12-11/04/12....

10/29/12-I don't show a lot of his comfy outfits so this one was pretty cute thought we would share.. Disney cars shirt (goodwill 2.00), Sonoma red/navy blue sweat pants (yard sale .50) and black new balance tennis shoes (yard sale 1.00) so the whole outfit cost 3.50 now that really is cute and thrifty!!!

10/30/12-Old navy superman logo layered shirt (gift), old navy jeans (once upon a child 5.50), and new balance tennis shoes (yard sale new 5.00) so the whole outfit cost 10.50 not that is cute and thrifty!!

11/01/12-As you know Halloween was the day before so he wore his costume that day if you want to see a pic of it got to my post A Pumpkin For Halloween? Really? Now on to the outfit for this day..Baby Gap buzz light year layered shirt (yard sale 1.00), childrens place dark wash jeans (goodwill 2.00) and Nike tennis shoes (yard sale 1.00) so his whole outfit cost 4.00 now that is cute and thrifty!!! Side note his costume only cost me 2.95 at the goodwill so that was also cute and thrifty we got alot of compliments on it!!

11/03/12-Crazy 8 long sleeve "daddy's little helper" dog shirt (clearance 3.99), old navy button up shirt (put under other shirt) (consignment sale 2.25), crazy 8 jeans with matching waist band (clearance 6.29) and new balance tennis shoes (yard sale new in box 5.00) so the total for whole outfit was 17.53 since most of the items were bought new with tag this is still cute and thrifty!!!

Update On First Time Consigning....

Well it was a lot of work and not too sure if it was worth it because I only made $180.00 now you may be thinking that is not bad but for all the work you have to do I wasn't too happy... I thought my prices were reasonable and only namebrand items went in the sale.. I put two shirts together cause my son had so much it was easier that way with a price tag of $10 now they were worn may be 1-3 times if that and it was baby gap, childrens place or old navy and their shirts are at least 12.00 a piece or more sometimes and all I wanted was $10 for 2 of them was that so bad? Cause if we break it down it goes like this I put $10.00 on both the sale gets 40% so that is $4.00 for them which leaves me with $6.00 and that averages out to $3.00 for each shirt so I can't go much lower on the price or I would't get anything and some people charge more than that at a yard sale and a yard sale is not half of the work that getting ready for this sale was.. So not sure if I will be doing it again next season or not it was nice getting into the pre sale though maybe my friend will sell next season and I can go with her.. I am going to try ebay again maybe it will work out for me this time (used to sell all of my son's clothes on there but when they changed their fee's it was not worth it to me anymore) will let you know how that goes for me too!! Can't complain too much though cause I bought $108.00 worth of items (check out my previous haul posts to see them) so technically got that stuff for free with $72.00 left over so if you look at it that way it may seem worth it but then I think about the two trips to my friends house (she lives about 30 mins away from me) to tag the items, getting them ready to be tagged (which means sorting,hanging pinning), the trip over to take them to the sale (which was over an hour away from where I live) and then making the trip back over to pick the left over stuff and check up (really shouldn't complain about the trips cause I rode with my friend but just wanted to give the example of the time it takes to do this).. So to sum it up my first time consigning did not go as well as I had hoped..

Thrifty Thursday!!! 10/25/12-10/31/12...

I go to the goodwill at least once a week if not more (what else can be said I am addicted) some times I also hit up the thrift stores we have around town (there are a couple besides the goodwill) so I decided to start a new blog post that combines all of these "hauls" so you don't have to see a million different post.. It is going to be called "Thrifty Thursdays" (thought that sounded the best) so if you love thrift store/goodwill hauls then come take a peek every thursday!!

These are from my goodwill trip on 10/25/12.. Wonderkids black jeans 2.00 (did need these he doesn't have any black jeans) and childrens place t-shirt for next summer 2.00 (love these shirts they are so soft)..

Also from the goodwill 10/25/12 trip.. Old navy dog pj's 2.00 and carters truck pj's 2.00 (always get pj's when I find them especially for 2.00 a pair)..

Last items from my goodwill 10/25/12 trip.. 2 thomas the train books and a polar bear polar bear book all of these were .50 a piece (that is a good deal for books and the polar bear book looked brand new!!)
