Thrifty Thursday 05/23/13-06/20/13

Aden and Anais swaddle blankets new in package 15.00 (these are on the website for 31.49), vintage tree glass tree topper .95, circo new with tag jacket 2.00 and highlights new in box pens .50.. All of this came from goodwill.. 

Munchkin foam bath cradle .95, just one you dino layette 3.00 new with tag, cherokee sail boat cardigan 1.00 new with tag, carters valentines bib 1.00, puppy slippers 1.00,  a to z book .50, dog toy new 1.00 and toys r us bear toy 1.25 looks new.. All of these items came from goodwill also got my son some small toys but he had to have them as usual..

Route 66 bag .50 (yard sale), stripe bag .50 (yard sale), new with tag duck sleeper 1.00 (yard sale), john deere tractor this was new in box too 2.00 (yard sale) has accessories not shown and new in package swaddle blanket 2.00 (yard sale).. My son got a few more things but as usual he will not part with them to take a pic..

New with tag treasure chest .50, new with tag avengers knit cap 1.00, 3 charlie banana cloth diapers (now I am probably not going to cloth diaper but at least if I want to try and for the price I couldn't leave them) 1.00 a piece, 2 opi nail polishs 1.00 a piece and genuine kids romper new with tag 1.00.. All of these items came from the goodwill my son also got a few small things to put in his treasure chest for 2.00.. 

Depends on how you look at this I am either putting this up really late or really early? I wanted it to go up last thursday but put the pregnancy announcement up that day so since I have been buying more things here lately didn't want to wait another week so here it is a thrifty thursday on monday!!! It has really been a while since one of these.. 

Preconception Baby Buys... Vol. 2...

Here are my preconception baby buys for the last few months.. Told ya I would be getting more with it being yard sale season!! New in box baby einstein mobile 10.00 (my mom got this at goodwill, on the target website this is still 39.99), assorted toys .25 a piece, stacy claire boyd gown/hat new with tag 2.00, vintage knit dress 1.00, monkey car seat strap covers .25 for pair and receiving blankets .50 a piece.. I already took this apart to clean and store it, but still wanted to mention it.. It is the fisher price rainforest bouncer I got it for 10.00 off of the yard sale page!! I was so excited because these are still selling in the stores for $55 and the one purchased looks brand new!!

Since I am pregnant now (yay!!!) there will be no more pre-conception buys now it will be baby buys and I will just put them in with my thrifty thursdays!!! We are so excited for this new journey!!

TTC Update #3... The Finish Line!!!

As you can tell I have not been updating my blog very much, that is not an uncommon occurance but this time I have a very good reason.. I am PREGNANT!!!!! Yes that is right as of today I am 8 weeks and have been sooooo sick it has been hard for me to even get things done around my house much less update my blog.. We are so excited the due date is January 28, 2014.. My son hasn't figured it out yet but when we ask him if he wants a brother or sister he says "baby sisser" alot of people in my family want a baby sissor mommy doesn't care long as it is healthy.. Other than being sick alot I have also been tired which is not a good thing when you have a 4 year old running around but we have been making it work.. Also lots of other symptoms that go with pregnancy like sore boobs, running to the bathroom every 2 seconds and of course cravings.. One thing I crave nonstop are those jimmy dean sausage and gravy bowls (well I crave anything with sausage) also cheese or cheese spread it is crazy.. I also have food aversions that make me sick just thinking about them (blah) sorry was going to give you some examples but can't bring myself to do it.. Think that pretty much sums up the last few weeks of pregnancy might try to do one of these a week or every couple of weeks just for me to look back on.. Stay tuned for more baby blogs and of course son blogs as well!!

It's Angry Bird Party Time!!!...

As you are going to be able to tell my now 4 year old son picked angry birds for his birthday theme this year.. So I didn't have to get too creative there are quite a few angry bird party items out there to find.. I still made his favor boxes because you have to have something handmade right? Here is the decor I bought off of Birthday Mania they have really good prices and ship very quickly highly recommend!! I got the center piece, banner (it is very large and you can choose the age), confetti, napkins plates, toy favor and balloons!! All of this plus shipping was less than $30!! I got a big (26 in.) angry bird balloon and two number 4 balloons from DalvayDelights on ebay they shipped quickly and were just what I was looking for.. I also got some personalized cake and cupcake toppers done by YourEventStudio1 on etsy I loved them and they were very reasonable on the price and shipped quickly.. His invite came from The Design Studio on ebay we loved them too, highly recommend they were very quick and easy to work with.. Sorry no pics of the toppers or invite because they were personalized, that is why I put the links to their stores.. I just picked up table cloths and things like that from dollar general..
  This was his birthday outfit!! I thought the shirt was very fitting for the party it was purchased off of ebay.. The sandals were bought at kmart thought these would make a cute addition to his outfit.. He just wore denim shorts (figured I didn't need to put them in there)..

These are the favors for our guests.. I made the boxes (the post under this one is for the tutorial on that) in the boxes was an angry bird flyer toy, fruit snacks, graham crackers, sucker and bag of cheese crackers all of these items were angry bird themed.. The kids loved these and with everything in them and the boxes these cost less then 2.00 that is really good for a party favor I do believe!!

Since we had the party at bounceland (a room full of bounce houses) I didn't get to do a lot of decorating but this was his cake table which had his banner above it, favor boxes behind the cake, cake in the middle and parts of the center piece on each side of it.. Of course had to have a bunch of balloons (he loves balloons) those are the ones I got from the links mentioned above..

This was the inspiration for my son's cake it looked just like this one.. Everyone loved it they kept commenting on how cute and different it was!!  This is the link to this page she even tells you how she made it I am not that talented so someone else made ours!! I hope this helps any other angry bird birthdayers out there I tried to put links to everything and also check out my blog post for making the favor boxes it was super easy and the kids loved them!! 

Crafty Corner... Angry Bird Party Boxes...

Here is a little how to on the angry bird favor boxes I made for my son's birthday.. First the supplies you will need are red and green favor boxes (found mine at walmart for 1.50 for a pack of 4), green-black-yellow-red and white construction paper, glue, scissors, black marker and chalk.. To start I cut out all of the pieces I would need to make the faces like the eyes, pig faces, eyebrows for both, beak for birds, pig ears and bird tails.. I free handed most of these pieces but you may be able to find a template online to use if you want them to all be the same size and shape.
. Then all I did was glue them to the boxes.. It was pretty simple just takes a little bit of artistic talent which is good because a little is all I have!!

They turned out pretty good if I do say so my self.. I am going to fill them with paper shreds a toy, crackers, graham crackers, fruit snacks and a sucker.. The cost of these boxes with everything in them is going to be less than $2 a box not bad!!

Crafty Corner... "Hand"made Flower Magnets...

Welcome to our crafty corner today we are making "hand"made (get it) flowers magnets.. What you will need for the project.. Some kind of cover for your surface (we use a trash bag), cup for water, big paint brush, paint (of course), magnet picture frame (bought ours at dollar general for 1.50), 5x7 sized construction paper and your child hand..



  Step one... Paint your childs hand anyway you would like.. I put yellow in the middle and different colors on each finger but you can do it anyway you like.. P.S. my son loved this part!!





 





 Step two.. Just stamp the childs hand down on the construction paper.. Make sure they spread their fingers out and also make sure you put alot of paint on the
hand or it may not come out right..




  Step 3.. Let the "flower" dry for a few minutes then get your child to draw a stem and leaves for it.. I put the year at the bottom of ours and on the back wrote happy mother's day (these were for his grandmas)..

 Step 4.. Let dry over night.. Then put them in the magnetic photo pocket and viola you have the best gift for any occasion from your little one.. His grandmas loved these and so do I.. It was so easy to do, a bit messy but so worth it.. Until next time keep crafting!!

05/28/13-Baby gap stripe shirt 1.75 (ebay), gymboree cargo shorts 2.50 (consignment sale) and brown smartfit sandals 2.00 (goodwill).. Total for outfit 6.25!!

05/31/13-Baby gap truck shirt 1.75 (ebay), wonderkids truck shorts 2.39 and sketchers shoes 5.50 (consignment store).. Total for outfit 9.64!!

06/01/13-John deere shirt 8.00 (khols.com), old navy camo shorts 2.00 (goodwill) and brown sketcher shoes 5.50 (consignment store).. Total for outfit 15.50!!

06/02/12-Ralph lauren polo shirt 2.50 (consignment sale), cherokee lobster shorts 4.50 (consignment sale) and navy blue faded glory sandals 2.00 (goodwill).. Total for outfit 9.00!!

Well I can not believe it is already June!!! This year is flying by!! Always heard once you have kids time flies and I believe that is true!!
