Yard Sale Find... dooney and bourke purse

Welcome to another yard sale find post. This post is about this authentic dooney and bourke purse I found at a yard sale for .50! It does have a few issues like the corners have wear to them but for the price it is still a nice bag. I do love the signature print like the coach bags I carry, plus it is black ant that matches everything. I got a really good deal, makes you wonder why the got rid of it?  Also sorry about the pics for some reason they turned out kind of awful HAHAHAHA! I will try harder necxt time :)

What I will be using out of my beauty bags for September 2018

Hello lovelies!! I thought it would be fun to show you what I got in both of my beauty subscription bags this month and tell you what I will be using! I do think both bags were good this month. I will most likely be using all of the items but I will say there will be a couple I do not. If you want to know what they are keep reading.

This is what $20 got me this month
These are my favorite items this month. Eye shadow, perfume, foundation, nail polish and a lip/cheek stain. I will be using all of these items.
These items are ok and will most likely be used. There are two primers and a moisturizer also a face mask which will defiantly be used.
This is the only hair product I received and the one item I know I will not be using. So out of all only 1 defiant no is not bad. I do feel looking at all the items that $20 maybe a bit pricey but I am thrifter so anything over $5 is expensive to me LOL!!

Our Life With Autism.... Beep.....

This weekend I had the most momentous day in our life with autism. Farmer C and I were in the car with my mom and I was beside him in the back seat. I play this little game with him (and our dog Rosie) where I touch his cheek or nose and say "beep". He loves it and laughs most of the time when I do it, sometimes he is not in a good mood and will let me know. But today was a good day, he liked it so much that he said it back to me!! I thought did he just do that? So of course I did it again and there it was the cutest little "beep" I have ever heard!
I know to some this would not be a big deal or even on their radar of things to share but for a family of a non verbal child, this is what makes your day, month or year. My son has never consistently said a word, much less repeat it back to you several times in a row. This is one of those days I will always remember because this is a first word. This is a start to talking, communication and what we have been working for.
I had him do it three times in a row for me, then of course I had to try for my mom and grandma. Of course it took my twice with no response when they listened but he did it for them too! They were so happy, it made me realize I am not the only one waiting for a voice, everyone around us are waiting to hear him. I also had him do it for his daddy and pop-pop, it took a few tries but he did it. Then when he went to school I had him say it for his teacher and then after school his ABA.
The most important part of all this is not just that he said a word in the cutest little voice but that he KEEPS doing it! He didn't do it just one time and that was all he has consistently done it for me, not everytime but almost every single time. So while this is small to some, to me and my family it is the biggest moment in a long time and I will say that beep is now my favorite word.

Mail Call.... Sephora play bag for September 2018

Hello lovelies!! Got my sephora play bag in the mail today and wanted to share what I got. First off the bag was different this month, it was plastic instead of the drawstring cloth ones. I was overall happy with the items in my bag, I have to say the three months I have been receiving my bags have been good. I will most likely use everything in my bag. My favorite thing would be the perfume sample also like the lip liner. I was also happy to receive a foundation but I do think it is too dark for me, boo hoo. I do not use face primers usually but it never hurts to try! I can always use moisturizer and I love masks! I do feel this bag was worth the $10 this month.

Goodwill Find.... dooney and bourke purse

Made my last trip to the goodwill for this week, we are supposed to get bad weather and my kids are out of school for the next few days. We will be staying in for the weekend so I made my way there before all the crazy sets in. Was not disappointed I went either cause I found this amazing Dooney and Bourke purse. It is a cute smaller purse made out of black nylon (easy to clean) and I love that little duck at he bottom. It is authentic and was only $3, this was one of the only items I got that day but it was so worth the trip in there!

How I clean my thrift store doll finds

One of the hobbies I have besides thrifting is cleaning up dolls I find on my thrifting adventures. I do not collect or keep the dolls I just enjoy finding them and cleaning them up. I usually sell them or give them to my friends little girls. You would not believe the dolls I find when I am out.
This post is to show you how I clean the dolls, it is rather easy to do and it feels therapeutic to me for some reason. I picked 3 dolls to work on today that had a bit of crazy hair going on and some surface dirt. I will explain what all I use and what I do to get them clean. I will say that most of my routine came from watching a youtube channel called At thousand splendid dolls (link is provided), she is very informative and her tips are easy to follow and work out very well!

First off are the utensils you need for the job, dish soap (or shampoo body wash) to clean the body, conditioner for the hair, baking soda and tooth brush for harder to remove dirt, pet brush (with metal bristles), large tooth comb and a rat tail comb. I also have two towels (one for laying them on to comb the conditioner in their hair and one to help with drying the hair. I also use a large measuring cup for boil washing the hair but that is optional.
These are the 3 ladies I am fixing up today, not really too much just taming the hair a bit.
After I wash their bodies with the soap and scrub them with a little bit of baking soda I rinse the off and wash their hair. I lay them on the towel and put conditioner on their hair (I do let them set for about 5 min with the conditioner on). Then I comb their hair starting at the bottom and working my way to the top of the head. I let them set about 5 more min.
Then I do the boil wash on them (I will tell you if you have a doll with curly hair and you do not want to loose the curl DO NOT BOIL WASH, most of the time it will make the hair straight as a board). To boil wash I put a 4 cup measuring cup full of water in the microwave for 3:00 then I dunk the head in a few times then let it set for about 5-10 min. After that I rinse the hair in the sink one more time to get the rest of the conditioner out then towel dry, comb/brush.
Then I lay them out to dry, can you believe the difference already in these girls??? Their hair look so shiny and of course straight. I did want to curl the dark haired doll but then talked my self out of it. She originally has big bouncy curls but I was afraid to mess her up, she looked so pretty with straight hair.

These ladies turned out lovely, again I really do like how they all turned out. If I could change one thing I would not have boil washed the dark haired doll she had some curl to her hair that fell out when I did that but her hair did turn out good. All of their hair turned out nice and shiny! That is how I clean my thrift store dolls, I really do love doing this and will keep sharing when I do!
