Vintage Baby Nursery Theme... On A Budget....

This post is going to be about how I did my vintage nursery on a budget, it is no secret I like a good deal and try my best to save money how ever I can, of course that would not change when doing my son's nursery.. I knew no matter what gender my child was going to be I wanted a vintage themed nursery, it started out with toys but as time went I added childrens books.. I didn't want to put a lot in the room unlike my 1st son's nursery that every empty space on the wall had something on it, don't know if it is age or what but that just didn't seem like the right idea this time around.. Don't get me wrong I loved his nursery too at the time it turned out cute too (may do a post on it later on).. All of the items in my nursery was purchased at yard sales, thrift stores or ebay I really didn't spend that much and I think it turned out really cute!!

This is a look when you walk into the room... On the far wall is a paper mache humpty dumpty (yard sale 1.00) my grandmother got this for me.. Then beside of that are pics drawn by my son and niece of our family with a couple of pics out of an old childrens book (ebay 5.45) I wanted to use old childrens books as the art in the room so I got on ebay and found a few pretty cheap because they were not in the best condition but that was perfect, who wants to tear apart a prestine condition book that is 50 years old? Then we have a curtain that matches my bedding set (more on that later in the blog)..

This is the front wall.. Not much over here cause of the closet but I did put a small book shelf (kmart 19.99) with vintage wooden toys (ebay various prices but none over $10) also have cloth bins (kmart 2.49 on sale) that has the babies toys in them.. Above that is a hallmark picture frame with a quote (yard sale 3.00) and a sticker that say "all because two people fell in love" (yard sale .25) thought that was fitting in the room.. By the way the wall color is butter from walmart I really like how it turned out, since we didn't know the gender when the work started on the room and my 1st son's room was light green we went with the only other neutral color..

Other side wall.. Changing table that I love (kmart clearance $32) I got such a good deal on it, in the bins are his sleepers, blankets, diapers and personal care items.. Above it is a garland I made out of an old childrens book then a few pages out of another childrens book (both of these were under $5 on ebay) the reason they are not framed is since they are over the changing table didn't want to take a chance on them falling off the wall..

This is the back wall.. His crib was actually my oldest sons it is the one thing I didnt get rid of, I think it matches the vintage theme perfectly.. The bedding set is from pottery barn kids I believe the name was spring time bunnies it is a very cute gingham print, it was the first bedding set I seen that just spoke to me.. I got if off of ebay for $56 that includes the curtain from the first pic, quilt, bumper and bed skirt.. The mobile that is in his crib does not go with the bedding it is a baby einstein one but I wanted something colorful to catch his eye (goodwill new in box $10).. I really like how it turned out, it is simple but that is what I was going for.. After all was said and done including renovations we did to the room I spent less than $250 that is very impressive just goes to show what being thrifty can get you!!
